The
double-decker Michigan Avenue Bridge was built between 1918 and 1920, and
renovated in 1928. It is a bascule bridge. According to
chicagoriver.org, two of the towers are ornamental and the other two
contain the control mechanisms for raising the bridge. Two of the
towers are detailed below, reflecting the beaux-arts style. It
crosses the Chicago River.
