New
Brunswick has recently been listed as one of the American cities with the
most single people. Now a small city, it was a key location during
the Revolutionary War, a ferry crossing on the route between New York and
Philadelphia. Originally known as Inian's Ferry (where John Inian
established that service in 1681, it became New Brunswick in 1730. It is the county
seat for Middlesex County and the home of Queen's College, now known as
Rutgers University. It is also the international headquarters of
Johnson & Johnson, and is known as the "health city" for its
concentration of health-care related services.
In this aerial view, one can see the taller buildings
of the city and the winding Raritan River.
