The Wachovia Financial Center in Miami was built between 1981 and
1984 and, at 55 stories, remains the tallest office building in Florida,
according to skyscraperpage.com. The architectural firm was
Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP. It has been known as Southeast
Bank Center and the First Union Financial Center. The
building is comprised of the tower and a parking garage; the detailed
image to the right shows a view from the rear of the building.
Though of a bluish color more consistent with the water, it may be
compared to the Scotia Plaza and Bell Atlantic Tower in the
Post-Modern Section in terms of the staggered "blocks." It is
now the second tallest building in Miami, surpassed by the Four Seasons
Hotel and Tower. |
The Bank of America Tower, a 47 story office building in Miami, was
completed in 1986. Its architectural firm, Pei Cobb Freed &
Partners (it was designed by I.M. Pei), refer to it as the CenTrust Tower
(renamed Miami World Trade Center) on their website. It is also
referred to the Bank of America Tower at International Place. It is
625 feet high. The curves and blue coloration that reflect sky and
water blend it into the environment.
