June  2006: Brigantine Bridge         Atlantic City, New Jersey

This bridge across Absecon Channel is known by a variety of names: the Brigantine Bridge, Brigantine Boulevard Bridge, Route 87 Bridge, Absecon Channel Bridge.  It is a four lane, 2,148 foot high rise steel girder bridge, completed in 1972.  A Courier-Post article reports that in 1924, the first bridge between Atlantic City and Brigantine was built. This bridge connects to the Atlantic City-Brigantine Connector series of ramps, bridges and tunnels.
