The IBM Building in
Chicago (1969-71) was Ludwig Mies van der Rohe's last American
building. It is 52 stories, and 695 feet high. In considering
his buildings, one is reminded of Piet Mondrian's work--of a kind, but
each unique in their simplicity of composition. |
The Union Carbide
Building (its original name; it became the Manufacturers Hanover
Trust Company Building, then the Chemical Bank Building, and is
now known as the Chase Building) was completed in 1960.
It is 52 stories and located at 270 Park Avenue, New York City.
Gordon Bunshaft was the principal architect, assisted by Natalie de Blois
and Jack G. Dunbar. |
