Color photography has its
own place, and appeals to different aesthetics and senses. Although
only relatively recently has color photography become "accepted"
as part of the fine art tradition of photography, the technology has been
around in one form or another for a surprisingly long time. The
images in this section, while they could be transformed into black and
white images, would lose one of their central themes--the place of color
in the overall pattern and composition. Whether muted or bright,
color in these images is integral and often the subject itself.
Colors also of course take on particular tones at night, in fog, bright
sunlight, and so forth. The pages are arranged by personal
preference with an emphasis on a particular color that may dominate, even
if not taking up most of the image.
"Color is all. When
color is right, form is right. Color is everything, color is vibration
like music; everything is vibration." Marc Chagall.
